Super Bodyguard making of featurette released!

Yue Song’s upcoming “Super Bodyguard” (re-titled from “The Bodyguard”, presumably to avoid confusion with Sammo Hung’s similarly titled action thriller) is set to arrive in theaters in China and Hong Kong. It’s hotly anticipated by martial arts and action fans and we were glad to help get the message out with it taking the No.3 spot on our 2016 must watch martial arts movie list!

In any case, Song has just treated audiences to a peek behind the scenes of the film and the demands of directing an action-packed, stunt-filled kung fu flick in which you also happen to be the leading man, which you can see below!

This marks Song’s second outing as both director and leading man, following 2013’s “The King of the Streets”. For “Super Bodyguard”, he’s joined by his co-star from his first film, Li Yu-Fei, along with Hong Kong veteran Wai Man-Chan, Collin Chou of “The Matrix Reloaded” and “Flash Point“, and former Shaolin disciple Shi Yan Neng of “The Wrath of Vajra” and “Ip Man” stepping into the villainous mantle. If you couldn’t already tell from the trailer, Song and co. have seriously gone all out, so much so that the prefix “Super” in the adjusted title feels genuinely earned.

Wu-Lin is the successor of the ancient clan’s ‘Iron Kick’. After the death of his master, Wu-Lin leaves the village going into the city to look for his fellow apprentice JiangLi. He turns out to be the bodyguard of Fei-Fei, the daughter of the wealthy Li. A group of mobsters led by JiangLi attempt to kidnap Fei-Fei. Wu-Lin fails to stop them and gets brutally crushed, but manages to survive. Now Wu-Lin using his lethal ‘iron-shoe’ technique decides to rescue Fei-Fei from the mobsters exposing the truth behind their evil plan.
