Street Fighter V officially announced!

It’s a really good time to be a fan of the “Street Fighter” franchise. Earlier this year, the acclaimed web-series “Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist” debuted, undoing what two notoriously hated adaptations did to the series in 1994 and 2009, respectively, earning seemingly unanimous praise from critics and fans of the series. It also accomplished something that its two predecessors failed to do by getting a sequel greenlit, aptly titled “Street Fighter: World Warrior” and set to arrive between late 2015 and early 2016. The “Street Fighter” game series itself would also see its latest iteration “Ultra Street Fighter IV” land on gaming consoles this past summer. As if all that wasn’t enough for the series’ worldwide fan base, the next installment, “Street Fighter V” has just been announced with a trailer to give fans a glimpse of what’s in store!

As you can see, the game play is just as outrageous as “Street Fighter” fans have come to expect from the series, and it appears that the game will incorporate the stages and the encompassing surroundings in which the characters fight in a way not seen in previous installments of the series. Curiously, the next series has only been announced as being released for PC’s and the PlayStation 4 gaming console, with no mention of the Xbox One, in contrast with the platform release seen in previous installments. Fans will most definitely speculate (and probably protest) this approach to releasing the game by Capcom, but the game is set to have cross-platform capabilities between PC’s and the PS4; more information on the console releases for the game will likely be following on shortly.

“Street Fighter V” currently does not have a set release date, but will likely drop sometime in 2015.
