Jaa, Yeoh, and Bautista board “Ip Man”-spin-off!

The “Ip Man” Cinematic Universe has no end in sight, with a fourth installment of Donnie Yen’s flagship martial arts franchise confirmed to be in the works. However, the famed Grandmaster of Bruce Lee isn’t the only star of the series whose story is set to continue. An eponymous spin-off focusing on Cheung Tin-chi, the breakout character of “Ip Man 3” played by rising star Max Zhang, is in the works, under the direction of the legendary Yuen Woo-ping -and it gets even better for fight fans with the news that Tony Jaa, Michelle Yeoh, and Dave Bautista have reportedly boarded the project!

“Cheung Tin-chi” will mark Zhang and Jaa’s second collaboration following 2015’s Hong Kong mega-hit “SPL 2: A Time for Consequences“. Zhang’s involvement with “Ip Man” also extends beyond the Donnie Yen series, as well. He previously appeared 2013’s “The Grandmaster“, wherein he portrayed Ip Man’s fellow kung fu master Ma San. Zhang will also gain a higher profile with Western audiences next year, with the release of the upcoming “Pacific Rim: Uprising”.

By itself, this news would have been more than enough for lovers of action to sink there teeth into, but Tony Jaa’s legions of fans have also seen the hype for his upcoming project “Triple Threat” literally triple. The film unites Jaa with fellow action stars Tiger Chen and Iko Uwais, hence the title, with “John Wick: Chapter Two” auteur Chad Stahelski attached as action director. However, the project may now need to be retitled “Sextuple Threat”, with the news that action stars Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White, and UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping will be joining the ensemble cast. Both projects are assured to be among the biggest blips on the action radar in the coming months!

Stay tuned for more info on “Cheung Tin-chi”, “Ip Man 4”, and “Triple Threat” as it arrives!
