Breakout for “The Raid” stars!

It’s safe to say that three of the main stars of Gareth Evans’ “The Raid”, namely Iko UwaisYayan Ruhian, and Joe Taslim, have broken out to become the biggest action stars from Indonesia following the film’s success. Iko spent his time between the first film, its equally amazing sequel, appearing in Keanu Reeves’ “Man of Tai Chi”, and along with Yayan and Cecep Arif Raman of “The Raid 2”, will soon be seen in the upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. Meanwhile, Yayan will also soon be seen in his usual tough-as-nails bad guy persona in the Indonesian action-crime thriller “Gangster”, you can see the second trailer for it below!

The film, which drops in Indonesia on August 27th, is definitely one for lovers of mafia flicks and Silat action to keep their eyes peeled for. However, Yayan’s co-star of “The Raid”, Joe Taslim, has his own bit of recent breakout news too within the realm of sci-fi, no less.

Specifically, Joe has joined the upcoming third instalment of the contemporary “Star Trek” series, titled “Star Trek: Beyond”, which is set to land on July 8th, 2016 to commemorate the franchise’s 50th anniversary. Joe’s no stranger to jumping aboard long-running series’, having made a villainous appearance in 2013’s “Fast and Furious 6”. Obviously, this news confirms what we’ve all already suspected – that the Force is (going strong) with the stars of “The Raid“, and all of them are using it to boldly go where no man has gone before!

Stay tuned for more info on “Gangster” and “Star Trek: Beyond” as it arrives.
